How do web design copyrights work?

March 11th, 2010 by admin

How do web design copyrights work? Are they copyrighted at all? Am I allowed to copy ones buttons off their website? Or their layout or colour scheme? Obviously I wouldn’t copy it exactly. What about modifying it some what? Thanks in advance guys.

you can copy the color scheme but you cannot use any of thier pictures including buttons. You could design a similar button of course.

By the way, whether it says copyright or not, you cannot use thier images

How do you export a web design created in adobe illustrator to dreamweaver or online?

March 7th, 2010 by admin

I want to make a web design in adobe illustrator but I don’t know how to get it to dreamweaver.

Do I save it as an image and then plot the links out?

Yes. Do you have photoshop? Just move the illustrator image to photoshop and use the slice tool on the sides where the body of your site is going to be. Save for web, then right click the file to open with dreamweaver. There is a really great tutorial on youtube that helped me a lot, here is the link.

That is the part 2 of his tutorial, when he already had the image saved as an html file.

Hope I helped!

What state universities are good for graphic design or web design?

March 3rd, 2010 by admin

I’m looking for good universities that offers bachelor degrees in Web design or Graphic Design… out of the united states and inside both work for me. State universities rather than private are preferred, but you can tell me both.

Ferris State University in Big Rapids Michigan. Cheaper degree, excellent university, excellent return on your educational investment. excellent new media web design program.

What is the difference between web design and graphic design?

March 1st, 2010 by admin

Well, I’m getting closer and closer to graduating but I’m confused on what to take in college.i wanna be a web designer.what courses should i take. i wanna make the websites i make interactive attractive and great and also have fun doing it. but it looks like i should take both web designing and graphic design or what ever.

In college I was a graphic design major and now I am a freelance web designer. After I got my degree, I went back to get a certificate in web design and authoring. It’s great you are interested in web design, because that field is really growing, and many businesses always need upgraded, professional sites.

Graphic design courses are great to take, because you learn about typography, page layout, and creative presentation, and this spurs your creativity. Some of the basic web courses are included in the graphic design degree. Most colleges do also offer a web design certificate, which enables you to learn the web tools and programs, such as dreamweaver, photoshop, and flash. Make sure you take a course on css, which is a must for web designers.

Hope I helped, and good luck!

What is the best web design and development school?

February 27th, 2010 by admin

What are the schools with the best curriculum in web design and development? The best one that I found that had both is Full Sail in Orlando.

Please don’t answer by saying it is best to learn by practice or interning, because it is irrelevant to the question. Thanks in advance.

hands down, MIT and all of those bigger schools. from what i have found though, michigan has the best program.

How to collect web design requirements from customer?

February 25th, 2010 by admin

I planned to do web design projects at my own. I need to interact with the customer & need to collect requirements from them and I will design web pages for them. Please help me to make it well.

The most effective way to obtain the requirements is through interviews. Make an appointment with you customer and ask them what they want on their website. Prepare the questions well in advance.
Type of questions:

1. Functional Requirements
– This basically tells you what the website should do and how does it functions.
– Example: What the website do? What is it for? What function should be there?

2. Non-Functional Requirements
– This is not about the functionality of the website rather than it relates to how should the website looks and anything that is not in the functional side.
– This requirements if it is not done the website will still function perfectly as it was intended to.
– Example: Whats the website layout? Whats the color theme? What is the tolerable amount of time for the website to response to a request.

These are some basic yet the most important requirements you need to know.
You can always search at Yahoo! and Google for a more detailed design/software/ website requirement document sample and template.
