The Newest Photoshop Program Adobe Cs4
July 28th, 2010 by admin
Adobe software is some of the best in its class and every year it continues to improve the previous versions in functionality and ease of use. At first, Adobe became known for a series of individual products, such as Photoshop and Acrobat, however they’ve also got an entire line of design software, which is also called “Creative Suite,” and contains a whole host of useful products. The latest version of the software is Adobe CS4 and contains the following:
- Adobe Photoshop, which is a very popular graphics editor.
- Adobe Illustrator, which is a vector style graphics editor.
- Adobe InDesign, which is a web-design product.
- Adobe Acrobat, which creates and manages PDF files.
- Adobe Flash, which is the software you can thank for various movie style web pages and scenes and can turn any web page into a dynamic browsing experience.
- Adobe Dreamweaver, which is an html based web page manager and html editor. Dreamweaver has been around for quite some time and is a very advanced product when compared to others in its class.
- Adobe Fireworks, which is a bitmap and vector based graphic design editor, mostly used for creating and modifying web based images and designs.
- A mix of 10 other programs ranging from audio editors, advanced management systems, and other organizational style software programs.
Adobe CS4 is a comprehensive software suite that is capable of turning your PC or laptop into a product creation machine. You can literally do anything in the realm of graphics or web design using these tools, and if you learn how to use them properly you can create a skill set that is sought after across the industry.
There are approximately 4 editions to the software, which range in price and value. There is an edition for web focused businesses or individuals, one for design, one for production, and one that contains every piece of software in the suite.
As you can imagine, the price of this package is somewhat expensive, as many of the programs are several hundred dollars individually. The bottom line price is $999 retail and the most expensive package is well over $2,000. Obviously, unless you have a use for all of these products, you might be better off buying them individually. However, if you use more than a few, you should consider buying the base package at a minimum.
Adobe CS4 is the best in its class and contains more than you’ll ever need to create graphics, web pages, flash movies, and PDF files. There is so much that you can do with the software that I’d have a hard time fitting it all within this post, but I would strongly consider taking a look at the individual product pages to learn more. Adobe CS4 might be expensive, but it is well worth it when you consider the power it gives you to create and produce great products. There is a reason that the professionals use it, so I would definitely give this software a 2nd look.

These are some GREAT free photoshop tutorials.
Go to the one on Harry Potter it teaches you what you want to learn…and some other cool things you might want to use.
Make sure to check them all they are really good.

Do this:
1. Duplicate the layer (ctrl + d)
2.Take Saturation to -100 by pressing (ctrl + U) and sliding saturation all the way to the left.
3. Hit (ctrl +a) to select the black and white photo then create a new layer on top of the color photo and paste the b & w one ctrl + v on top of the color one.
4. Then with the eraser you can erase the eyes and the eyes will be the only part of the photo in color.

As is true of many procedures in Photoshop, there are several ways of doing selective color. This is a quick and easy method.
First open your photo in PS of course.
Then go to Layer – Duplicate Layer
Click OK
Then go to Image – Adjustments – Hue / Saturation
Drag the Saturation slider all the way to the left to make the photo black and white.
Click OK
Then get the ERASER tool from the tool box on the left side of the screen. It is usually the next tool under the clone stamp tool. Just hover your mouse over the tool, and it will say Eraser.
When you have selected the Eraser, go up to the Brush options box at the top of the screen, and click on the downfacing arrow. Set the Hardness of the brush to 100% so you will have accurate control of selection. You may also need to raise or lower the brush size to suit.
Erase away any black and white from where you want the color to be revealed.
When done go to
Layer – Flatten Image
Then just do a Save As to wherever you want to save the photo.
hope this helps you

I don’t have the elements version of PS, but either of these should work:
Click on the little black and white circle under the layers pallet. This will bring up a small menu. Choose "hue/saturation". Move the "saturation" slider until the image is black and white. Yes, this will change the WHOLE image, but we will fix that in a moment. Click Okay.
Now, very near that little circle button you pushed should be another button featuring a circle inside a rectangle. Push that button to add a "layer mask". Notice that when you push the button, a white box will appear next to the hue/saturation icon in the layers pallet (on the actual layer).
Now make sure that the mask is what you are working with by clicking on it. The mask is that white box that appeared next to the hue/saturation icon.
Click the brush tool, make sure you are using the color black, and paint in your image on the eyes. If you see black where you are painting, then you have not highlighted the layer mask. You should actually see normal color returning to your image where you paint with black.
If you accidentally paint beyond the eye a bit, just change the painting color to white and paint it back in.
If that whole crazy thing didn’t work, try this:
Duplicate the layer you are working on by highlighting it in the layers pallet and then pressing Cmd + J (mac) or Ctrl + J (PC). Then go to Layers> Adjustmets>Desatuate. Then use the eraser tool to erase the eyes, revealing the still colored version underneath. That’s it.
I know that the second one sounds easier, but here’s what is cool about the first one: You can change it around after you are done. Just double click the hue/saturation icon in the layers pallet (for the layer you added) and you will again see the dialogue box where you first made your color adjustment. Go nuts. Make all the changes you want inside that dialogue box and you can always change it again. Adjustment layers (everything in that little menu when you click the black and white circle) all have that capability.
Enjoy.
