Minott has died at the age of 54.

His wife said he died at University Hospital, Kingston, but did not say how he died. He cancelled gigs in Canada in May because of chest pains.

The singer, real name Lincoln Barrington Minott, launched his career in the late 1960s as part of reggae trio The African Brothers.

He had a number four hit in the UK in March 1981 with Good Thing Going, a cover of a Michael Jackson song.

Minott launched a solo career in the 1970s and recorded for the famed Studio One label.

He built a following in the dancehalls of Jamaica and recorded songs including Vanity, Mr DC and House Is Not A Home.

He went on to nurture new talent with his own Black Roots and Youth Promotion labels.

Former Youth Promotion artist Junior Reid said: “Sugar Minott was a man who gave a lot of strength to the music although he got no love from the business.”

A new album from Minott, New Day, is due to be released “soon”, according to his website.

You can find hours of entertainment at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. There are three shows all at the same site and each is of top notch quality. The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo starts March 2nd this year and runs until March 21st. There is still time to get tickets for the entertainment event of the year.
When things get started this year on March 1st the fun continues all the way until the closing concert on March 21st. The livestock show is the portion that kicks things off and it is fun for the entire family. You can see everything from bulls to rabbits and everything in between. If you like to see young people who are committed to the responsibility of caring for and working with their animals at a high level there is no other place to be. The joy your family will get from seeing this portion of the entertainment will create family memories that will last for years.
There is also a rodeo of championship caliber. This is the PRCA’s richest regular season event. The total prize money is $1.5 million. The cowboys and cowgirls are also competing for points that count towards the PRCA World Standing and help them qualify for the National Finals Rodeo. The night begins with the Grand Entry and the National Anthem Salute. The night is filled with top notch rodeo competition. These three pieces create an entertainment value that is second to none.
Then each night the events end with a concert that could be considered for concert of the year, but every night is different. Each and every night there is a top notch concert. This year the lineup includes acts like Toby Keith, Keith Urban and Mary J Blige. How much variety can you get? This lineup is unbelievable and it is different every night. Everything from country to Latin music and from rock to hip hop can be found in one of these concerts. It just doesn’t get any better than this.
