I have a requirement for a J2EE developer with CMS…what different types of cms could the client be looking for?

One that allows them absolute control over the website, pages, options, blog, formatting, styles… etc.

My business is currently using a series of excel spreadsheets to manage purchase orders, quoting, invoices, inventory, etc.

I have looked into open source ERPs to find a solution, but i plan on creating that in the future to replace the spreadsheets, and my current manufacturing software to be integrated together.

So for now, I was wondering if there are any open source and preferably web-based (to use in an intranet) solutions that can replace using excel for recording logs.

Both of the above options provide good solid choices but cost money. If you are looking for an open source document management or content management solution, then you definitely need to look at Alfresco.

i am s software engineering student and i want to create and develop a lcms that will be useful for e-learning…does any1 nkow what platform such systems ae built on and how i can start implementing one for my final year project assessment.

brings up several hits. from there, you would compromise on what framework you are most comfortable with, whether it be Joomla! Drupal, MySQL, whatever.

I want to make a website where users can submit there own articles/opinions on one subject but I don’t know how to go about it. Is there a CMS that would help?

Unfortunately, people tend to scream Joomla the moment someone mentions a CMS.. this is a bad response. Joomla is simply not a very good option for most people. If you want to find a good option, check out http://cmscritic.com.

There are tons of them with explanations as well as reviews. If you can’t find one there.. then it doesn’t exist.
